Covid-19 tests can now be performed in pharmacies

The Health Minister announced the decentralization of the covid-19 testing process, with the expansion to some pharmacies, with the necessary biosafety requirements and trained personnel.

Sílvia Lutucuta, who was speaking during a statement on the epidemiological situation in the country, marked in the last five days by the exponential increase in cases of covid-19, said that they will also be able to carry out testing pharmacies with conditions for referral or information on the diagnosis of tests to be done, with tests established and certified by the National Institute of Research and Health.

"It will not be free testing, but our population will have one more option in addition to the testing that is already done in our public institutions and private clinics," she said.

The government official stressed that testing will continue to be reinforced, with the process taking place in various public institutions "and the results are not encouraging".

"To cut the transmission chain, we need to vaccinate, comply with individual and collective protection measures and thus, in this way, save our country", she appealed.

The holder of the Health portfolio appealed to the population to be vaccinated, informing that to date 11.1 million doses have been administered, of which 7.2 million are the first dose, corresponding to a coverage of 47.9 percent.

"But we have these seven million people to take the second dose of the vaccine to be protected, we only have 3.5 million people with the full doses, which corresponds to a coverage of 24.3 percent of the target population, of age aged 18 or over, for a total of 15.7 million," he said.

The country started to boost the vaccine against covid-19, administering the third dose, on the 16th of this month, and so far 22,677 people have been immunized, and 657,004 children and adolescents between 12 and 17 have been vaccinated. years old.

Angola registers a total of 67,170 positive cases, 63,894 recovered, 1564 active cases and 1743 deaths.
