Recorded 71 dead and 298 injured in road accidents in the last week

Angola recorded in the last week 71 deaths and 298 injuries as a result of a total of 266 road accidents, announced the National Police.

According to the Synthesis of the Public Safety Situation, in the period between 17 and 23 December, being run over, with 33 percent, led the types of accidents, with Luanda province standing out, with 62, followed by Huambo, with 25, and Huila, with 24.

In operations carried out by the police, 1005 citizens suspected of crimes of theft (264), robberies (143), serious and simple offenses against their physical integrity (166) or sexual assaults (29).

The Luanda provincial command of the National Police highlighted in the balance of activities during the weekend the detention of a 20-year-old Angolan citizen, alleged to have committed the crime of sexual abuse of two minors aged between two and five.

The fact took place in the municipality of Belas, Camama district, inside a residence, when the accused took advantage of the absence of the children's parents to carry out the act.

In the last week, the police seized 41 firearms, three less compared to the same period before, highlighting Luanda with 17, with 70 vehicles, 119 motorized and 115.4 kilograms of smack having also been seized.

With regard to the situation at the borders, the police states that 371 crimes were registered, of which 326 for transgression of migratory movement, 38 for smuggling fuel, two for smuggling narcotics and five for smuggling goods, which resulted in the arrest of 1201 citizens, mostly from the Democratic Republic of Congo (1177).

On the border with Namibia, the police authorities indicate that 20 crimes were registered, ten of which for transgression of migration, four for smuggling fuel and six for smuggling undeclared goods, which resulted in the arrest of 97 citizens (+47). of which 50 are nationals, accompanied by 100 children, and 47 are Namibians.

The Police also mentioned that a total of 33,080 officers were involved in the different events.
