More than 6000 meters of vandalized electrical cables in Bié province

More than 6000 meters of electrical cables were vandalized in Bié province, central south of the country, a situation that is leaving the city of Cuito, capital of the province, without electricity, was announced this Monday.

The information was transmitted today by the spokesman of the National Directorate of Investigation of Criminal Offenses of the Angolan National Police (PNA), Quintino Ferreira, when he presented the balance of the actions of that police body developed over the weekend.

A citizen was arrested in Bié province for alleged involvement in the theft and vandalization of electric cables in the extension of access avenues to the Joaquim Kapango provincial airport, which connects the municipalities of Cuito and Cunge.

"The province of Bié is at this time with a loss of more than 6000 meters of electrical cables that were vandalized and as a result is causing darkness in Cuito, capital of the province," said Quintino Ferreira.

According to the police, another person was also detained for allegedly vandalizing electrical stations next to the administration building in the municipality of Jamba, Huíla province.
