According to a statement from the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), in June, the young woman was selected for a paid internship at GGPEN, thus becoming part of the Ballistics Area of the Satellite MCC.
"GGPEN Ambassador for Space Education since 2022, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineer from the Technical University of Angola, Bruna Martin, saw her trajectory change when she was selected, in June this year, for a paid internship at GGPEN, entering Angolan space history as the first woman to join the Ballistics Area of the Satellite Mission and Control Center (MCC), located in Funda, in Luanda", informs GGPEN.
Having been in the Space Operations department in the MCC Ballistics Area since September, the young woman has been learning about flight dynamics.
"This area is responsible for making the necessary correction to keep the satellite in orbit," said the engineer.
"My first contact with the space area began in 2018, when GGPEN was introduced to me, by professor Rui Morais, when the first Small Satellite Construction and Launch Competition took place, and several institutions at national level were invited to ISUTIC, current INSTIC", said Bruna Martin, quoted in the statement.
As an ambassador for Space Education, the young woman "has helped to share knowledge with other people at different levels about the area and helped with course completion projects related to the sector".
Furthermore, according to the engineer, she also had the "opportunity to do some training, such as: construction, assembly and launch of small satellites, satellite communication and space applications", all offered by GGPEN, adds the note.
According to GGPEN, the MCC concerns the "infrastructure necessary to ensure the operation and control of Angosat-2, after its launch and placement in orbit, being the only one in Southern Africa capable of operating three satellites simultaneously".
