Speaking this Wednesday, during the handover ceremony, which took place at the National Museum of Archeology in Benguela, Manuel Nunes Júnior said that "he will carry out his duties with maximum dedication, a lot of discipline and rigor, above all with a lot of commitment in relation to realizing the great aspirations and concerns of the population of Benguela", points out a statement from the provincial government of Benguela, to which VerAngola had access.

On the occasion, the new governor acknowledged that he will have a huge amount of work ahead of him, which aims to "improve the living conditions of the populations in all areas, from education, health, basic sanitation, energy, water, communication routes, diversification of the economy and the increase in national production, as well as the increase in employment, especially among youth".

According to Nunes Júnior, Benguela has major projects that are strategic, not only for the province, but also for the country, whose "most emblematic" is the Lobito Corridor, in which the Government will give "special attention due to the repercussion on life populations and throughout the country's economy".

The provincial governor also considered that the work must be done by everyone: "The work that lies ahead is to be done by everyone", he highlighted, adding that he intends to count on the support of "public servants, private sector workers, businesspeople, academics, intellectuals from various fields, as well as sportspeople, religious entities, traditional authorities, cultural and arts makers, different associations and cooperatives".

Appealing for the support and involvement of all Benguela residents, the new governor also said that he will also work with all municipalities, in order to "develop the immense potential and opportunities that exist in each of them", with the motto being 'Benguela - municipality by municipality, towards development'.

Furthermore, Nunes Júnior also said that with the transfer of portfolios he is "better able to know in greater detail the various projects underway in the province, the problems and difficulties that he will have to face and resolve both in the immediate and in the medium and long term, that is, make the diagnosis and take action, with firmness and high pragmatism", says the statement.

On that occasion, Manuel Nunes Júnior said he was returning to his homeland to "fulfill a very demanding but also honorable mission, which is to direct the destinies of this territory".

According to another note from the provincial government, to which VerAngola had access, it was the Minister of Territorial Administration, Dionísio da Fonseca, who presided over the ceremony. On the occasion, he thanked the outgoing governor – Luís Manuel da Fonseca Nunes, who led Benguela for approximately four years, now leaving the province to take over the 'reins' of Luanda – "for all his knowledge and dedication" to the province.

Referring to the new governor, the holder of the Territory Administration portfolio considered that the province "receives a son who performed several functions in the State apparatus, whether in terms of the public sector and the Central State Administration and Deputy of the National Assembly", expecting all the support and collaboration from the people of Benguela, since "alone he will not be able to transform Benguela according to the desire desired by each Benguela resident".

The former governor of Benguela, Luís Nunes, suggested that the work be continued, recognizing that there is still a lot to be done in Benguela, to achieve the well-being of the population.

"In every project, every policy, every decision, the well-being of the people of Benguelense has always been at the forefront. That is why, on some occasions, we have had to face setbacks and a lack of immediate solutions, but always with the conviction that the result it would be a reality in the lives of communities", he said, quoted by Angop.

He also pointed out that, during his mandate, the priority was always the implementation of actions with a direct effect on solving the difficulties faced by the community on a daily basis.

"We renovated and expanded health units, created more opportunities for students and teachers and several support programs were implemented for the most vulnerable communities", he exemplified, quoted by Angop.

"Benguela is not just a province, it is a family that welcomed me and inspired me every day", he stated, having also added: "Benguela is to be congratulated, not only on the path of progress, but also for the choice that fell on the new governor, Manuel Nunes Júnior, a son of the soil with extensive experience in government and public administration".
