João Lourenço made these brief considerations at the inauguration ceremony of the new governors of the provinces of Luanda, Luís Nunes, Benguela, Manuel Nunes Júnior, and the secretaries of State for Finance and Heritage of Foreign Affairs, Osvaldo Varela, and for Human Rights and Citizenship, Antônia Yaba.

The head of state highlighted that Luanda is known for being the most populous province in the country, "with all the problems it has", such as water supply and sanitation, rejoicing with the improvements in the energy service.

According to João Lourenço, fortunately some of these problems began to be resolved by Manuel Homem, who until Thursday headed Luanda.

The president asked Luís Nunes, who left the leadership of the province of Benguela, to continue the work that Manuel Homem developed "with great courage" in a short space of time, while he was in charge of the province of Luanda.

To the new governor of Benguela, Manuel Nunes Júnior, former deputy to the National Assembly, João Lourenço highlighted the importance of that region, among other reasons for being the province of the "much talked about Lobito Corridor".

"Discussed internally, but also internationally due to its importance. Some of the main infrastructures of this Lobito Corridor are in the province of Benguela, namely Porto do Lobito, the headquarters of the railway", declared João Lourenço, also highlighting its potential in the sectors of fishing and salt, appealing to Manuel Nunes Júnior to "pay attention to this".

"It is also an agricultural province, like the vast majority of provinces in our country, agriculture that must also be developed. But also, like Luanda, it is an industrial province, which in the recent past has greatly declined from the level of industrial production that known in the past, but which has been slowly recovering and we hope that one day it will reach the levels that we all hope for", he highlighted.

João Lourenço said that Angola has a vast asset spread around the world, especially real estate, which serves diplomatic and consular missions, which "needs to be better managed", to conveniently serve the embassies and the country.

"Therefore, fight against the degradation of these infrastructures and try to make the best possible use of them," he said.

Regarding the issue of defending human rights, the President stressed that this issue "has always worried the Angolan executive", as Angola is a country that had "a very prolonged and devastating war, this aspect of defending human rights in a situation of peace and of reconciliation between Angolans" must also receive due attention.
