According to a statement from the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), to which VerAngola had access, the launch took place via a telephone call between the minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication and the vice-governor for the Sector Technical and Infrastructures.

"The commune of Sombo, more than 170 kilometers from the city of Saurimo, in the province of Lunda Sul, already benefits from Angosat-2 services. The launch was marked with a telephone call between the vice-governor for the Sector Technical and Infrastructures, Esmeraldino Cláudio Abreu, and the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira", reads the note.

Thus, Lunda Sul becomes the fourth province to benefit from this project, joining Bié, Lunda Norte and Luanda.

"Lunda Sul is the fourth province to benefit from 'Conecta Angola', with the provinces of Bié, commune of Belo Horizonte, Lunda Norte, commune of Canzar, Luanda, in the Telecommunications Institute (ITEL), already benefiting from this project", advances the statement.

"Conecta Angola" aims not only to "bring free Internet access to remote, underserved and limited areas" but also to "help reduce digital exclusion, promote socioeconomic development and improve the quality of life of the populations in these regions".

The project also ensures that "all communities, regardless of their geographic location, have access to the Internet and can benefit from the advantages offered by Angolan digital connectivity", completes the statement.
