The Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication informs, in a statement to which VerAngola had access, that the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), as part of the celebration of World Space Week, which is celebrated between 4 and 10 October, "put into operation" this Monday, in the municipality of Canzar, "the service called 'Conecta Angola', which essentially aims to provide free access to communications in remote areas, with limitations and in need (Internet), via the Angosat-2 satellite".

According to the authority, the arrival of this service in Canzar makes this commune the second location in Angola to benefit from the 'Kit-Conecta Angola'.

"This time, Kit Conecta Angola arrived in the commune of Canzar, municipality of Cambulo, province of Lunda Norte, thus becoming the second location in the country to benefit from the telecommunications services 'Kit-Conecta Angola', a Government project that arises through the benefits offered by Angosat-2", reads the statement.

In the ceremony that marked the start of operation of this service in the aforementioned commune – guided, from the capital, using the Internet, by Mário Oliveira – there was "an interaction via video call with the communal administrator of Canzar, António Cabuango".

The communal administrator considered that the arrival of 'Conecta Angola' in the commune "represents an added value for the residents, with emphasis on students, who through this tool will be able, in addition to others, to reinforce and expand their resources and means of study", says the statement.

The official also highlighted that Internet services will also serve "to support the State's Integrated Financial Management System (SIGFE), at municipal level".

On the occasion, Mário Oliveira left an appeal to local authorities so that, with the support of the population, they create "security mechanisms to protect the respective infrastructure from the constant vandalization that the country has been experiencing in recent times", in order to citizens can have access "to communications on a regular and permanent basis".

The holder of the Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication portfolio also took the opportunity to highlight that the extension of telecommunications services to remote areas of Angola shows "the Executive's commitment and interest in the digitalization and administrative modernization" of the country, "facilitating thus the operationalization of administrative processes and digital inclusion", also mentioning the Simplifica project "and the monitoring of infrastructure projects in the most varied areas", adds the note.

Speaking to the press, the government official assured that 'Conecta Angola' will reach all provinces of Angola, with emphasis on the East and Southeast, in the coming months. "The emergence of 'Conecta Angola' is one of the most evident proofs that Angosat-2 is at the service of the Angolan nation and companies operating in Angola. At the moment, there is a group of national operators that already provide communications services to communities and not only, via the Angolan satellite, which is working as normally as any satellite operating in the world", he stated, quoted in the statement.

The guardianship states that the arrival of this service in Canzar "comes four months after this service arrived in the commune of Belo Horizonte, Bié province, last June".

Aiming to bring free Internet access to remote, underserved and limited areas, 'Conecta Angola" also serves to "help reduce digital exclusion, promote socioeconomic development and improve the quality of life of the populations in these regions". Furthermore, the service also ensures "that all communities, regardless of their geographic location, have access to the Internet and can benefit from the advantages offered by Angolan digital connectivity", adds the note.
