According to a note from the Japanese Embassy in Angola, the project financed in March 2022 and implemented by the organization Mines Advisory Group (MAG) closes this Thursday, having left an area of 273,524 square meters free of mines.

With the project, 3,996 artefacts were removed, including 85 explosive mines, to "create a safer life in the face of the danger of mines for the beneficiaries, inhabitants living in the area", he adds.

The partners in this project were the National Mine Action Agency (ANAM), the provincial government of Moxico and the municipal administration of Luena, capital of Moxico.

Japan supports local projects in Angola in a variety of ways, with the Community Project Assistance Program (APC), since 1989, and also the Assistance Program for Japanese NGO Projects.

In the area of demining, since 1999, several community mine action projects have been supported with an approximate value of more than 16 million dollars, non-refundable, through the programs mentioned above.
