The certificate of recognition – according to a press release, cited by Angop – was granted at the ceremony of raising the Angolan flag in the aforementioned city hall, as part of the celebration of the country's 48 years of independence, by the hands of provincial deputy Marit Stiles.

On the occasion, according to Angop, the deputy left a word of gratitude for the Angolan's hard work on behalf of local communities in various social, civic and political areas.

Regarding the distinction, Francisco Pegado, who is a presenter on Camões Radio & TV and contributes to the newspaper Milénio Stadium, stated that it applies to all immigrants living in Canada, writes Angop.

His commitment to social causes also allowed him to be distinguished by Etc & Tal Magazine and Abrigo Centre.
