Adalberto Costa Júnior chose, on Tuesday, the neighborhood of Boavista, in Sambizanga, to respond to the message of the President, João Lourenço, on the State of the nation, delivered on October 16th.

The objective was to invite the Government and its holder to "portray with courage and truth the real country, totally different from the very extensive list of promises read in the National Assembly and which in no way resembles or characterizes the real Angola", said the leader partisan.

Adalberto Costa Júnior said that the political parties represented in the National Assembly have the right to respond to the executive's statements and considered it "very serious" that the President of the Republic has denied this constitutional right, with an aggressive stance that indicates a predisposition to limit constitutional rights".

The President said, in his intervention, that any speech on the State of the Nation, which is not given by him, is an "illegitimate exercise of usurpation of powers".

Something that the leader of UNITA disagrees with, because, he said, "in democracy, the speech about the State of the Nation is a moment of accountability (...) not only for political actors, but also among society as a whole , and it cannot be prohibited to inquire into the content, as is done in dictatorships".

The president of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) insisted that, in dictatorships, "the prince's speech becomes a law that must be accepted by everyone", while in democracies "it sharpens the contradiction and stimulates debate".

No country is built without freedom, without justice and without democratic participation of citizens in public life, continued Adalberto Costa Júnior, criticizing constitutional failures.

"There is no point in embellishing endless lists of promises when fundamental rights are violated by those who have the primary responsibility for respecting them", he stressed, remembering that this was the reason for UNITA to move forward with the "duly substantiated" dismissal process with several pieces of evidence that would lead to the removal of the President of the Republic "in any democratic state governed by the rule of law".

Adalberto Costa Júnior questioned the legality of the National Assembly's procedures on this matter, recalling that the rules regarding secret voting and the ban on coverage of the plenary session were not complied with, which was also not broadcast, contrary to what has been customary in recent times.

He compared Angola with what is happening in Mozambique, with regard to a "desperate process of maintaining power at any price" and the use of defense and security forces "outside the limits of the law, dragging and arresting members of the polling stations ".

"Angola is no different from what is happening in Mozambique", said Adalberto Costa Júnior, calling on political elites, namely the MPLA, to "interrupt their silence and not allow citizens, particularly young people, to discredit their institutions and Don't choose violence as an option."

For the leader of UNITA, there is no justification for the fact that 22 years after peace, an environment of healthy coexistence does not prevail, since "a political opponent is not an enemy and alternation is not the end of life".

The politician highlighted that the "winds of contestation are blowing from many different sides of Angolan society" and listed several problems facing Angolan society, in a long speech lasting almost two hours, where he alluded to economic and financial indicators, provided statistics and figures, attacked adjustments direct and called for urgent measures to alleviate hunger.

Another of the critical areas of João Lourenço's governance, for Adalberto Costa Júnior, is justice and corruption allegations involving judges from higher courts.

"The clumsy way in which the President of the Republic dealt with this very hot dossier is the biggest stain on this period", criticized the party leader, who gave a "disastrous" assessment of the government's action.
