João Lourenço calls on Norwegian businessmen to invest in Angola

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, said that Angola has its doors open to private investment and launched an appeal to Norwegian businessmen to invest in Angolan soil in order to contribute to the diversification of the national economy.

The incentive was made this Thursday in Oslo, the capital of Norway, where the head of state is meeting for a two-day state visit.

Speaking at the Angola-Norway Business Forum, João Lourenço, quoted by Angop, referred to the measures adopted by the Government to improve the business climate in Angola and to attract private investment.

Here, he pointed out that a new Private Investment Law was passed, which, in his view, is more attractive and better safeguards foreign investment.

In addition, according to Angop, the President also highlighted the complete or partial privatization of public companies, in progress, including the oil sector, telecommunications, among others, emphasizing the transparency of the procedure.

In this context, he indicated that 94 companies have already been privatized and referred that the process also includes the partial privatization of TAAG, Endiama and Sonangol.

The head of state considered that this program represents a "great opportunity" for Norwegian businessmen: "This program constitutes a great opportunity for Norwegian businessmen and for the strengthening of the partnership with Angola", he said, quoted by Angop.

The approval of the competition law, which aims to fight monopolies as well as facilitate free competition, and the Executive's efforts in the fight against corruption, impunity and money laundering were also mentioned by João Lourenço.

According to Angop, in his speech, the head of State also referred to the Norwegian business community that Angola has high potential, with abundant natural resources, numerous arable land, a comprehensive hydrographic network as well as mineral reserves with a high capacity for growth.

During his stay in Norway, the President of the Republic's agenda also includes meetings with the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Store and King Harald, as well as one to the Parliament, where he will be received by its president, Masud. Gharhakhani.
