Téte António: PR visit to Norway is “essentially dedicated to economic cooperation”

The reinforcement of economic cooperation between Angola and Norway is the main focus of the visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to the European country.

"This visit is essentially dedicated to economic cooperation", said the Foreign Minister, Téte António, quoted by Angop.

The official, speaking to the press in Oslo, also mentioned that, in addition to strengthening bilateral cooperation, the visit will also establish links with the Norwegian private sector.

In addition, he also considered that the trip to the European country reflects "a good opportunity to exchange experiences".

"This visit to Norway is a good opportunity to exchange experiences, as it is known that this country has an economy with a very vibrant private sector, but also with State intervention in very productive key sectors", he said, quoted by Angola newspaper.

In turn, Mário Caetano João, Minister of Economy and Planning, said that the country wants to strengthen its partnership with Norway in order to help diversify the economy.

Also speaking in the Norwegian capital, the Minister of Economy and Planning, mentioned the holding of the Angola-Norway Business Forum, where business opportunities in Angola will be presented.

"Norway is very strong in the fisheries sector. We will seek to create cooperation in this sector, but also try to attract Norwegian businessmen to the agribusiness value chain", he said, quoted by Angop.

He also spoke about agriculture, referring that they intend to transform the country into one of the continent's biggest producers: "We want Angola to become the country that produces the most grains in Africa".

The chairman of the board of directors of the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), António Henriques da Silva, considered that relations between Angola and Norway "are solid" and that in this trip the agency will reinforce its mission with regard to to "promotion and attracting new private investments".

In an interview with Jornal de Angola, he said that "bilateral relations between Norway and Angola are solid and long-standing, with more than 40 years of diplomatic relations and more than 20 years of representation in Angola".

"In this mission, AIPEX will reinforce its mission in terms of promoting and attracting new private investments that contribute to the economic development of the country, presenting the potential outside the Oil & Gas sector and the support services provided by the Agency to the private investors", he added, speaking to Jornal de Angola.
