Biocom sugar and ethanol with 'Made in Angola' seal

INAPEM awarded the sugar and ethanol produced by Biocom the seal Made in Angola – a distinction that aims to contribute to the visibility of the products in the national market, to increase their production and consumption. Ethanol was awarded, for the first time in Angola, the green seal.

The seal Made in Angola is an instrument of the Executive, approved in June of this year coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, and operated by INAPEM (National Institute of Support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), which aims to complement the programs to support national production, with the objective of increasing production, promoting products with added value – which use national raw materials – in excess of 30 percent. It also aims to stimulate competitiveness, promote the improvement of product quality, increase consumption and diversify exports of Angolan products.

Both Kapanda sugar and neutral ethanol produced by Biocom "respect all these objectives and incorporate in their production more than 30 percent of raw materials grown and produced in Angola", explains Biocom, facts that made them eligible for the award. of the 'Made in Angola' seal. Biocom's ethanol received the first ecological seal awarded by INAPEM in the country.

Biocom received “this distinction with great satisfaction, mainly because it shows us that we are on the right path, promoting national production, diversification of the economy, competitiveness and the quality of 'Made in Angola' products”, said Otília Viegas, managing director company's deputy, in a statement sent to VerAngola. “In addition, for Kapanda sugar, we are sure that the attribution of the seal will bring greater recognition to the brand, and will contribute to its affirmation as a brand of national preference”, she added.

“It is important to highlight the fact that our ethanol product (special neutral alcohol) was the first to receive the green seal in Angola, recognizing our commitment to environmental, social and economic sustainability”, said the official.

Installed in the Capanda Agro-industrial Pole (PAC), in the province of Malanje, municipality of Cacuso, in an area of ​​over 81 thousand hectares, of which 70 thousand are arable and 11 thousand are destined to the existence of areas of permanent preservation of the vegetation, Biocom has an installed capacity to produce 2.2 million tons of sugarcane in an area of ​​40 thousand hectares, 250 thousand tons of white crystal sugar, 37 thousand cubic meters of neutral alcohol, and also to supply the country with a additional 136 thousand megawatts of clean and renewable electrical energy. Currently, the company employs around 3400 employees, mostly from the province of Malanje.
