The announcement was made by the coordinator of the Multisectorial Commission to Combat Covid-19, Francisco Furtado, when he presented the new Presidential Decree on the state of Public Calamity, which essentially brings the same measures as the previous diploma, which ended at 23:59 on the 30th of October.

According to Francisco Furtado, also minister of State and head of the House of Security of the President of the Republic, presidential decree number 242 obliges citizens traveling from Brazil to Angola, in the event of a positive post-disembarkation test result, to remain in institutional isolation, that is, institutional quarantine, after medical evaluation.

Francisco Furtado said that the new decree temporarily suspends the entry into Angola of citizens from India by any means.

"The same principles and the same rules in force in the current decree 241 are maintained, which ran until 23:59 on the 30th and without major changes", said Francisco Furtado, noting that on November 1, the obligation of older citizens began. 18 years old must present a vaccination certificate or a card with the first dose, at least, to have access to public services and institutions.

The government official stressed that the country continues to experience the third wave of the covid-19 pandemic, which peaked on the 20th of this month.

"Despite a decreasing evolution in the number of cases, it is clear that the situation still requires care and we are facing situations in which neighboring countries such as the Republic of Congo have a very high peak of the pandemic, which may have consequences for our border regions, particularly the provinces of Cabinda and Zaire," he said.

According to Francisco Furtado, the massification of vaccination in the country contributed to a significant reduction in cases of covid-19 during this month.

Although a total of 6.2 million people are vaccinated, about 4.7 million people have not yet received the second dose.

"Which means to say that, for the immunization of people, it is necessary that our citizens who were vaccinated during that period, from March until now, and who have not yet taken the second dose, must do so in order to guarantee the immunization and continue with the vaccination program, as the executive expects, so that by December we can reach the target of vaccinated 60 percent of the population," he stressed.

Francisco Furtado said that after the extension of the deadline for vaccination from October 15th to November 1st, there was a decrease in the number of people who went to vaccination posts, with the number of daily vaccinated decreasing.
