Portuguese-speaking Ports Association debates challenges for the future in Luanda

The innovation, resilience and sustainability of the Portuguese-speaking ports' economy will be debated at the XII Congress of the Portuguese Language Ports Association (APLOP), to be held in Luanda this Monday and Tuesday.

On the table will be issues related to challenges for the future of ports in Portuguese-speaking countries, such as internationalization, innovation and digitalization in the service of port competitiveness or the issues raised by the decarbonisation of the economy, the organization advances.

The APLOP congress takes place at the National School of Administration and Public Policies and takes place in person and online.

The program also includes the holding of the association's general assembly.

APLOP was created in 2011 to strengthen cooperation ties and increase trade between its members, including the nine countries of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP): Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor. Macau and Morocco integrate APLOP as observer members.

According to data quoted on the association's website, the Exclusive Economic Zone of APLOP members covers an area of ​​about 7.2 million km2, making it the fifth largest in the world. In addition, the sum of the member's coastline represents a total of about 15 thousand kilometers, which is equivalent to a place in the 'ranking' of the ten countries with the longest coastlines in the world.
