The aim of this expert knowledge sharing initiative, produced by the Standard Bank Research team, and presented by Fáusio Mussá, Chief Economist at Standard Bank
for Angola and Mozambique, it is, once again, to add value with regard to issues related to the Angolan economy and the African continent in general.

Fáusio Mussá summarized the conclusions of this Economic Briefing as follows: "In the last three years, Angola has made substantial progress towards macroeconomic stabilization, which has seen the growth of the
Real GDP turn positive, during Q2 2021, at 1.2 percent pa, after a five-year recession."

On sovereign ratings and national currency stability, Fáusio Mussá concludes that "progress on structural reforms, combined with debt relief measures and the recovery of the
This year's oil price helped to stabilize the Kwanza, improve fiscal performance and reduce the public debt-to-GDP ratio, which led to an improvement in sovereign ratings and a strengthening of the Kwanza."

For next year, Standard Bank's chief economist anticipates, in a statement sent to VerAngola, that "high inflation should start to ease in 2022, which will consolidate and improve short-term prospects."

Fáusio Mussá ends by sharing a concern about the future of Angola: "When we look at the medium and long-term prospects for Angola, several vulnerabilities stand out, from
dependence on oil to uncertainty about investment prospects."
