In the last few days, the process of recruiting employees for the hotel has been creating confusion. On the day the hotel unit was inaugurated, João Lourenço said that the hotel would create about 900 jobs. The information reached the population, who decided on Thursday to go to the hotel to apply for the vacancies.
However, the vacancies had already been announced months before the inauguration of the hotel and it is already in a selection phase. Faced with the confusion, the hotel decided to issue a clarification, so that in the future this type of misunderstanding will not be repeated.
In a statement quoted by Angop, the InterContinental management explained that between August 20 and September 15 the 85 vacancies available for a first phase were published in Jornal de Angola.
It also made it known that, until now, a database composed of 23,872 interested parties had been built. Of these 23 thousand, 3597 were chosen because they meet the requirements for the vacancies available, but only 150 will be hired for the opening and initial phase of the hotel.
The administration also emphasized that upcoming recruitment processes will be well publicized and that, after the announcement of vacancies, interested parties should submit their applications according to the requirements requested.
According to the statement, the hotel plans to hire, gradually, about 900 people. This number will be filled as soon as the hotel is fully operational and according to market needs.
The hotel will be responsible for training the employees, so that they are in accordance with the service provided by this chain of hotels present in other countries, the note states.
The InterContinental Luanda Miramar was inaugurated on Wednesday, November 11, by the President, João Lourenço.
