With Olímpio Cipriano leading the best scorers (14 points), at the interval the national team was already winning by a comfortable 40-26.
However, despite the Angolan superiority, the best shooter of the match was the Mozambican David Canivete, with 15 points achieved.
In the other match of the group, Senegal defeated the Kenya team 92-54.
Angolans will return to the field this Thursday, at 1 pm, in a match against the Kenyans. The first qualifying round ends on Friday night with a confrontation with the Senegalese, scheduled for 7 pm.
This qualifying round brings together 20 national teams that are divided into five groups, disputing the qualification in two rounds. The top three in each group will qualify for Afrobasket 2021 to be held in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. The host is automatically discharged.
The second round of qualifying for the competition is scheduled for February.
