The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern about the "hostile act" that occurred on Sunday, it says in a press release.
According to the Government, this action represents a flagrant violation of the principles and spirit of the recommendations and decisions of the ministerial meeting on July 30th of this year, and of the agreed ceasefire, which came into force at midnight on the 4th of August.
"The Government of the Republic of Angola vigorously repudiates this hostile act, which puts at risk ongoing efforts to seek a lasting solution to the conflict in eastern DRC, urging the parties to the conflict to respect the ceasefire, as reiterated by ministerial meeting on September 14, 2024, avoiding hostile acts that lead to an escalation of the conflict, worsening the serious humanitarian situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo", says the note.
The Angolan authorities reiterate their commitment to seeking a peaceful solution, within the scope of the Luanda Process, led by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, mediator appointed by the African Union.
