The General Program of Celebrations alluding to the 50th anniversary of national independence, which will take place under the motto: "Angola 50 years: Preserving and Valuing the Achievements Achieved, Building a Better Future", was considered this Thursday by the Council of Ministers, under the guidance of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

In an interview with the press, the Minister of State and head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, said that the Executive understands that there must be a great day of national mobilization, in which "all citizens are invited to a deep reflection about 50 years of life as an independent country".

Adão de Almeida highlighted that the festivities begin on November 11th of this year until December 2025, with a vast set of activities, more than 115 events, at a central level, in addition to provincial, municipal and diplomatic missions.

"The celebrations range from activities of reflection and sectoral assessment, through conferences and beyond, in the most different fields. There is a vast set of cultural and sporting activities, in addition to those of a political scope", said Adão de Almeida.

A speech by the head of state and a civic and military parade are scheduled for November 11, 2025.

This Thursday's Council of Ministers also had on its agenda to analyze the infrastructure inauguration plan and the work to be developed to include close to 100 central enterprises in the general celebration plan.

The program provides tributes to several Angolans who throughout the 50 years of independence and before made their contribution to the achievement of the liberation of Angola and the achievement of peace, "there should be a specific program of decorations for Angolan citizens and, eventually, some foreigners".

The Executive also encourages the participation of civil society with its own initiatives, "which stimulate activities in the most different segments".

"From residents' committees, which at neighborhood level can promote activities, can decorate the streets, to the various socio-professional organizations and other entities. The year 2025 is intended to be a year of celebration, reflection, joint preparation of the future for our country", he stressed.

Regarding the budget for the celebrations, Adão de Almeida said that each sector will carry out its actions within the allocated funds.

"We are not anticipating an extraordinary dynamic, outside the usual, we are going to carry out a conversion of the annual activities of the sectors, to combine with the celebrations of 50 years of national independence, when the General State Budget is approved, each of the sectors includes its activity in the respective budget", he explained.
