The awards are in six categories: 'Member of Parliament of the Year 2024'; 'Minister of the Year 2024'; 'Governor of the Year 2024'; 'Municipal Administrator of the Year 2024'; 'Breaking New Politician of the Year 2024' and 'Public Company and Institute of the Year 2024'.
According to Skylight Comunicação e Eventos, the nominees in the 'Member of Parliament of the Year 2024' category are Osvaldo António José Caculo (MPLA member of parliament), Florbela Malaquias (Humanist Party member of parliament), Benedito Daniel (PRS member of parliament), Francisco Viana (UNITA member of parliament) and Nimi a Simbi (FNLA member of parliament).
Already in the running for 'Minister of the Year 2024' are the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, and the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira.
The 'Governor of the Year 2024' category will be contested by Manuel Homem (governor of Luanda), José Martins (governor of Cuando Cubango), Nuno Mahapi Dala (governor of Huíla), Maria Antónia Nelumba (governor of Bengo) and Ernesto Muangala (governor of Moxico).
Auxílio Jacob (municipal administrator of Cacuaco), André Cassinda Tchimuco (municipal administrator of Virei), Lote Zeca Moutinho (municipal administrator of Dala), Arlindo Francisco Vieira dos Santos (municipal administrator of Belas) and Lisender André (municipal administrator of Lubango) are in the running for the 'Municipal Administrator of the Year 2024' award.
In the 'New Politician' category, the candidates are Lurdes Caposso Fernandes, Abel Guerra Paulo, António Alcino Sawanga, Olívio N'kilumbo and Euclides Luís de Castro.
Finally, the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE), the National Social Security Institute (INSS), ENSA, the National Statistics Institute (INE), the National Housing Institute (INH) and the airline TAAG are competing for the 'Public Company and Institute of the Year 2024' category.
Voting is online and begins on 10 October. According to the promoter, interested parties can vote on the website www.personalidadepolitica.ao from October 10 to November 15.
These awards aim to "distinguish political entities for their work and performance in favor of the public interest, and encourage society to actively support their representatives, as well as to participate fully in political life", as stated on the awards website.
