Cuanza Sul Hospital will be named 'Comandante Raúl Arguelles' and the inauguration will take place in the next few days, announces PR

The new Cuanza Sul General Hospital, which is scheduled to open in the next few days, will be named ‘Comandante Raúl Arguelles’. The announcement was made by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, this Tuesday, when he delivered, in the National Assembly, the speech on the State of the Nation.

On that occasion, the head of state said, as quoted by Jornal de Angola, that the choice to name the new hospital infrastructure after this commander is "a tribute to the courageous Cuban fighters who shed their blood and gave their lives in the fight for the territorial integrity of our country".

During his extensive speech, the President also took the opportunity to announce the extension of the 'Kwenda' programme for a further five years.

"It is with great satisfaction that I announce the extension of the 'Kwenda' programme for a further five years, until 2029", after the World Bank recently approved an "additional loan" worth 400 million dollars as a way of recognising "not only the positive effects on the lives of families, but also the rigour and transparency with which the programme has been managed", he said, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

"In its fourth year of implementation, 'Kwenda' has reached 94 municipalities, 54 more than initially planned, registered 1,667,906 households and has already provided social monetary transfers to 1,058,367 households", he added.

It should be noted that the main feature of the 'Kwenda' programme is the direct transfer of money to vulnerable families.
