According to a statement sent to VerAngola, the winners were officially announced on Wednesday night, during the gala dinner and awards ceremony.
Among the winners is the Kaminho Deepwater Development project, which won the 'Innovator of the Year' category.
"Led by partners TotalEnergies, Sonangol and Petronas, the project reached the Final Investment Decision (FID) in 2024, representing an investment of six billion dollars. This is the first major deepwater development in the Kwanza Basin, with an FPSO expected to produce up to 70,000 barrels of oil per day when it comes into operation in 2028," the statement reads, adding that "this development is a groundbreaking achievement that reflects the sector's commitment to low emissions and high productivity".
The list of winners also includes ExxonMobil, which won the 'Explorer of the Year' category, a distinction due to "continued success in incremental production and the search for new exploration frontiers".
"The discovery in the Likember-01 well in Block 15, one of Angola's oldest assets, was an important milestone for the year. In addition, ExxonMobil continues to explore new opportunities, with plans to drill the Arcturus-1 well in the Namibe Basin in 2024, reaffirming its leadership in the sector", the note further explains.
Cabship and Desidério Costa were the other honorees, having won the categories of 'Local Company of the Year' and 'Career Award', respectively.
"Cabship was recognized as the 'Local Company of the Year' for the important role it has played in the expansion of logistics services and support for offshore operations in Angola. In collaboration with Octomar, Cabship has led initiatives in maritime transportation and materials management, in addition to developing local technical capacity, strengthening the oil and gas industry", says the statement.
The basis for the distinction of Desidério Costa, former Minister of Hydrocarbons, is his "crucial role in the growth of the country's oil and gas sector".
"Throughout his career, which includes the presidency of the Organization of African Petroleum Producers and overseeing the establishment of the first LNG unit in Angola, Desidério Costa has contributed significantly to the development of the Angolan industry", adds the note.
"Celebrating the achievements of companies operating in the oil and gas sector in Angola, the awards reflect the progress, innovation and excellence of the industry," the statement said, adding that this year's awards highlight "initiatives that drive development at all stages of the industry's value chain."
It should be noted that the AOG 2024 conference took place between Wednesday and Thursday in Luanda, under the theme "Boosting Exploration and Development to Increase Production in Angola."
