Olympic Games guaranteed. Angolans conquer Paris after victory over Cameroon

Angola qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after beating Cameroon by 27-21, in a game played last Saturday at the Kilamba Arena Multipurpose Pavilion, in Luanda.

The first minutes of the game seemed balanced, however, the senior women's national handball team reached halftime with a seven-point lead, with the score reading 16-9.

During the second half of the game, Angola managed to stay ahead on the scoreboard, reaching the end winning by a difference of six points.

With this victory, Angola sealed its ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

According to a note from the Angolan Handball Federation, Chélcia Gabriel was elected the MVP of the game, having received the trophy from the hands of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, who "attended the closing of the Qualifying Tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, played in Luanda from the 11th to the 14th of this month, at the Kilamba Arena Multipurpose Pavilion".

"After the outcome of the meeting, which consecrated Angola as the only African representative at the Paris Olympics, the highest entity of national sport delivered the trophy to the MVP of Angola's match against Cameroon Chélcia Gabriel," reads the note.

In another note, the federation took the opportunity to congratulate the national team: "Once again, the union was strong and we had the pleasure of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics at HOME. We are all to be congratulated for the commitment and dedication", wrote the federation.

In addition to Angola and Cameroon, Senegal and Congo also played on Saturday. The match, which preceded the Angola game, was 26-21, with Senegal emerging victorious.
