Alexandre Santos qualifies Petro for the group stage of the African Champions League

Petro de Luanda qualified for the group stage of the African Football Champions League, after beating União Desportiva Songo, from Mozambique, 3-1.


In the second leg game played in the province of Huila, the national champions opened the scoring, after three minutes, and Eddie Afonso, at 76, extended it, while the Mozambicans reduced it at 82, by Banda, and at 90+3, Petro sealed the result, by the Portuguese Alexandre Guedes.

In the first leg, Petro de Luanda had won 2-1 in Mozambique.

In the same competition, 1.º de Agosto lost by two balls to one on Sunday, against Al-Hilal from Sudan, in Morocco, on loan, due to the political situation in Sudan. Yasser Muzamel, in the seventh minute, and Mohamed, at 40, they scored the Sudanese goals, while Aguinaldo, at 73, reduced the score for the Angolans.

In the first leg, the two teams drew 0-0. In this way, the Angolans were excluded from the competition.

In the African Confederation Cup, Sagrada Esperança guaranteed qualification for the group stage, by beating Ferroviário de Maputo 5-3, on penalties, after a 1-0 victory, with a goal from Walter, at 90+4. . In the first, the Angolans lost 0-1.

For the same competition, Académica do Lobito also beat El Merriek, from Sudan, by an impressive 3-0 on Sunday in Nairobi, Kenya.

The draw for the group stage will take place on October 6th, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
