According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, the meeting with the head of the CNCEE took place this Wednesday.

The construction of the Lobito Refinery was the central topic of the conversation, adds the note.

"Aspects linked to the construction of the Lobito Refinery, under the responsibility of this Chinese multinational, were at the center of the hearing", reads the statement.

According to Weng Gang – in statements to the press, cited by Angop, at the end of the meeting –, the meeting aimed to address, above all, the refinery contract, ensuring reconstruction and expansion, as well as meeting the contract delivery deadlines before the end of 2026.

On the occasion, Diamantino Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, announced that the PCA of the Chinese company is in the country to sign the construction contract for the Lobito Refinery with Sonangol, this Friday, October 20th.

The person in charge considered the experience of working with the Chinese company positive, recalling the fact that this company had already worked on improving the Luanda Refinery, aiming to increase gasoline production capacity, writes Angop.

The head of the Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas portfolio also said that technicians from the national oil company were able to visit refineries built by the Chinese company and assess the quality of the work. Quoted by Angop, he also pointed out the reduced time to deliver the contract as another point in favor, compared to the competition, and also highlighted that it is a company with a lot of experience in building petrochemical refining projects.

The project, he said, is budgeted at six billion dollars and, when completed, will have a processing capacity of 200 thousand barrels per day.
