In a communiqué in which it welcomes the agreement reached between the Administration of TAAG and the Union of Airline Pilots (SPLA), the Ministry of Transport (Mintrans) explains that this was due to the decision to proceed immediately, on an advance basis, with the implementation of TAAG's Sanitation and Complementary Capitalization Plan.
"Basically, the Government took the decision to direct additional resources to TAAG, which will allow it to accommodate the needs of its salary mass and, at the same time, continue the investment plan that will make it one of the most competitive and profitable companies mainland airlines," the statement said.
Mintrans expressed support for initiatives aimed at normalizing passenger services, but drew attention "to the imperative need for efficiency and economic and financial sustainability of the company".
He thus reaffirmed "the commitment to do everything so that, on the one hand, the labor rights of TAAG workers are respected, but also for the company to be financially viable", asking for a "joint effort" from the workers and the Board of Directors.
"This is the spirit that the Ministry of Transport wants to see replicated in the ongoing conversations between the TAAG Administration and the other unions, namely the Union Bureau and the Cabin Sailing Personnel Union (SINPROPNC), so that identical results can be achieved", concluded the press release.
