In the statement released on Friday, the FAF explains that the issue is the fact that the Angolan champions refused to be present at the trophy and medals ceremony, after a 3-1 defeat against Desportivo da Huíla, in Super Cup match, on 23 September, for considering that the referee influenced the result, as well as the public statements made by the president of Petro de Luanda, Tomás Faria.

At the end of the game, the president of the club justified his team's absence from the aforementioned ceremony also as a protest against some decisions made by the FAF.

The Petro leader also accused the Angolan football governing body of not responding to requests for meetings between the parties, and threatened not to cede players to the Angolan football team, Pedro Gonçalves, for the CHAN2023 dispute, in Algeria, if the FAF does not sign forward Laurindo Depú, in conflict with Sagrada Esperança.

Subsequently, Tomás Faria was also suspended for a period of one month and must pay a fine of 79,500 Kwanzas.
