Rice husking factory in Malanje was built a decade ago but never worked

A rice husking factory was built a decade ago in Malanje, but it never worked. Having already benefited, so far, from an investment of 5 million dollars, financed by the Angolan Development Bank (BDA), the lack of funds to complete the works is conditioning the start-up of the factory.

:

To start operating, the factory needs more than one billion kwanzas, said Angelino Miguel dos Santos, representative of the unit.

The official, quoted by Angop, explained that they have the equipment, but due to lack of funding they are paralyzed: "We have peeling equipment from the factory, but we are at a standstill at this time due to lack of funding".

He said that so far "what has been done is practically 75 percent", with the remaining 25 percent dependent on funding.

In this sense, Angelino Miguel dos Santos informed that contacts are being established with the BDA with a view to strengthening the previous financing to complete the works.

The official, quoted by Angop, also referred that the project also includes the design of a farm for planting rice, in Luquembo, in a perimeter of 5000 hectares provided by the provincial government with a view to ensuring the operation of the unit.

He also considered that the start of the project would make it possible to respond to a fraction of the employment of young people and the basic food basket in the province.

Built in the Quinguila Industrial Development Pole by Angocentric Malanja Industrial, the factory is capable of husking 56 tons of rice daily.

Occupying a space of four hectares, the unit has offices, cafeteria and residences for workers, writes Angop.
