National oil sector in the sights of Singapore entrepreneurs

Singaporean businessmen expressed their interest in investing in Angola, namely in the oil sector, if the Angolan business climate is favorable.

:

The intention was expressed this Thursday, in Luanda, by a delegation of businessmen in the country's oil sector, which includes six companies and 15 businessmen.

As part of an event, which was attended by several national oil businessmen, the Singapore delegation – which established contacts with the Association of Companies Providing Services to the Oil Industry (Aecipa) – showed interest in learning about and understanding the investment climate in the field of service provision in the oil sector, that is, the legal package that regulates it, writes Angop.

If the investment requirements in Angola are satisfactory, contacts for the creation of partnerships with local businessmen will be maintained, said the Singaporean businessmen, quoted by Angop.

According to Bráulio Brito, representative of Aecipa, the purpose of the Singapore businessmen is related to the analysis of possible businesses to be implemented on Angolan soil.

Speaking at the end of the event – which brought together national and Singaporean businessmen – the official, quoted by Angop, clarified that the vision of the delegation from that country is initially to get to know Angola as well as understand the investment climate of foreign companies.

He also made it known that if the interest of Singaporeans goes forward, contacts will be determined for partnerships with national companies, since the event had the purpose of bringing entrepreneurs in this sector closer together.

On whether the business climate in this area is favourable, Bráulio Brito referred that there is an "environment conducive to investment in the oil sector, as the conditions are created, including regulatory ones", writes Angop.

Alex Ho, regional director for Enterprises Singapore (based in South Africa), also quoted by Angop, considered that his country has several resolutions in the field of service provision in this sector. "We brought to this contact with Angola six companies with different experiences in the oil world, from the leasing of ships, maritime services and manufacturing", he informed, quoted by Angop.
