Government approves General State Account with a surplus of 739 billion kwanzas

The Government approved the General State Account (CGE) for 2021, which brings together revenues of 15.22 billion kwanzas and expenditures of 14.42 billion kwanzas.

The CGE, which marks a nominal surplus of 739.99 billion kwanzas, was approved during the first ordinary meeting of the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers.

The balance report on the execution of the General State Budget (OGE) for the second quarter of 2022, a document that presents data and records on the execution of the OGE, reflected in the budget, financial and equity balances, was also approved at this meeting.

The meeting guided by President João Lourenço also approved a report that presents the expenditure limits for the preparation of the OGE 2023, which highlights the sectoral expenditure ceilings referring to the bodies of the budget system.

And "emphasizes that the social sector will continue to have priority in the allocation of resources, expected to represent 44 percent of total effective expenditure, with the aim of increasingly strengthening the National Health System and the education sector" , reads the statement.

The allocation of resources to the social sector also aims to support families through measures that aim to protect income, employment and the construction of infrastructure necessary for development.

A document that contains the general bases for the elaboration of the National Development Plan (PDN) 2023-2027, a planning instrument for the next five years, was also approved at this meeting.

The PDN 2023-2027, refers in the note, should be in line with the Government Program 2022-2027 with a focus on the development of human capital, on the modernization and expansion of the country's infrastructure in the intensification of the process of diversification of the economy.

The document, now approved, emphasizes that the plan's programs should also be designed taking into account the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, "thus contributing to the improvement of human asset and economic vulnerability indices, which are fundamental for Angola's graduation to medium development country".

The Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers was also informed about the situation of the strike of the pilots of TAAG, the state-owned carrier, the guarantee of minimum services for passengers, "having highlighted the company's availability for dialogue in order to resolve the conflict" .
