According to a note issued by the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, adjacent to the west of Funchal, this project was launched in June this year and aimed to collect school manuals and other educational material in almost all schools in the 2nd and 3rd cycles and secondary of the region.

The so-called 'Project Africa' aims to promote active and participatory citizenship, materializing social solidarity with Portuguese-speaking countries.

This initiative was put into practice by a group of four teachers from the school in Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, in collaboration with the civic center of the parish, the City Council and the AFÃ group, linked to civil construction.

According to the note, 24 schools from different municipalities in the region joined the project.

In this first phase, the thousands of books collected are being registered and catalogued, with a first shipment to be sent to Angola this week, with transport costs to be borne by the AFÃ group.

The note points out that the second phase of the project is already underway, which consists of collecting school material, including pencils, pens, notebooks, erasers and cases, which will also be sent to Angola.
