Noble Group, owner of Angomart, says that 2021 was the year it invested the most in Angola despite the crisis

The director general of the Indian-origin multinational Noble Group said this Tuesday, in Luanda, that, despite the economic difficulties that Angola is facing, this was the year in which they invested the most and announced the opening of two new factories in 2021.

Hugo Moutinho, who was speaking to Lusa agency on the sidelines of the inauguration this Tuesday of the 13th store of the Angomart chain, in the urban district of Zango III, municipality of Viana, on the outskirts of the city of Luanda, did not reveal the investment made so far, but said that the group's success is linked to "a clear vision" of what it intends for the future of Angola.

"We believe that the future of Angola will be good. We are going through, it is true, the fifth or sixth difficult year, but it was perhaps the year where we invested the most, it was 2021", said Hugo Moutinho.

Still this year, according to the director general of the Noble Group, the opening, in Viana (outskirts of Luanda), of two more industries, one for biscuits and the other for non-alcoholic beverages, is expected.

As for the Angomart supermarket chain, five stores are scheduled for this year, and for Dukan's part – in its fashion and accessories concept – eight new stores are scheduled for the current year.

Asked if the group presented any proposal for the management of the Kero supermarket chain, in the public tender opened this year by the Government, Hugo Moutinho replied that no, because the group's plan for this year and the next ones had already been drawn up.

"We want Kero to find an owner who will help him get up and get the offer Kero and the public deserve. Because the competition for us is good. We are not very happy when the competition has difficulties," he said.

The Kero hyper and supermarket chain is the main unit of Grupo Zahara, an angolan business group that has been transferred to the State sphere as part of the program to recover assets built with public funds.

The Noble Group has a total of 4400 employees, with 2750 direct jobs and another 1650 from industries.

According to Hugo Moutinho, 2021 "is a key year", where "more than ever" the group intends to show its vision for Angola.

By the end of the year, in total, in the different formats and store segments, the group will total 80 stores.
