Two companies compete for the management and operation of the terminal at the port of Lobito

The ministerial body opened the proposals for the international tender for the concession, for a period of 20 years, for the management and operation of the Multipurpose Terminal at the Commercial Port of Lobito.

According to a statement from the ministry, the pieces of the competition, launched on May 17 by the Empresa Portuária do Lobito, were acquired by seven interested entities, but only three submitted proposals.

Dubai Port World, Yilport, Qterminal, Abu Dhabi Ports, International Container Terminal Services, Inc (ICTSI), Bolloré Logistics and Citic Construction were the seven companies that acquired the tender parts, but only the last three competitors submitted their respective proposals .

Of the three entities, the note refers, competitor Bolloré was excluded for not providing for the payment of the minimum amount of concession fee of US$80 million under the terms of the specifications.

Competitor Citic was admitted to the tender and ICTSI "was conditionally admitted as it will have to submit the declaration of acceptance of the specifications within five days".

The proposal evaluation committee, according to the statement, will evaluate the proposals admitted to the competition, with the expectation that the winner will be announced before the end of 2021.

The container and general cargo terminal at the port of Lobito has a total area of ​​241,540.94 square meters, a berth of 1199 linear meters and the capacity to handle more than 600 thousand tons of non-containerized cargo and 250 thousand TEU (unit equivalent to 20 feet) per year.
