Covid-19: Angola with 100 new cases and two deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola registered 100 new cases of covid-19, two deaths and 64 recoveries from the disease, in the last 24 hours, informed this Thursday the health authorities.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, half of the new infections were registered in Luanda, while the rest in Huambo (16), Cabinda (14), Cuando Cubango (five), Cuanza Sul (five), Benguela (four) , Huíla (two), Uíge (two), Bengo and Zaire (one each), aged between 3 months and 65 years, 61 male and 39 female.

The two deaths were reported in the provinces of Benguela and Cuando Cubango.

Recoveries from the disease, aged between 1 and 81 years, were reported 34 in Luanda, 11 in Cuando Cubango, seven in Cabinda, five in Namibe, four in Huila and three in Benguela.

Angola accounts for 64,226 positive cases, 1705 deaths, 53,180 recovered from the disease and 9341 active, of which eight are in critical condition, 10 severe, 45 moderate, 38 mild and 9240 asymptomatic.

101 patients are hospitalized, 94 people are in institutional quarantine and 4037 contacts are under epidemiological surveillance.

The laboratories processed, in the same period, 3405 samples by RT-PCR, with a daily positivity rate of 2.9 percent, pointing the cumulative to 1,108,318 processed samples, with a positivity rate of 5.8 percent.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,969,926 deaths worldwide, among more than 244.94 million infections by the new coronavirus registered since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the most recent report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
