Covid-19: Angola with 355 new infections and five deaths in the last 24 hours

Angola registered 355 new cases of covid-19, five deaths and 502 recovered from the disease, in the last 24 hours, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health released this Thursday.

New infections were registered in Luanda (263), Cuanza Norte (30), Huambo (16), Cuanza Sul (nine), Huíla (nine), Cabinda (seven), Zaire (seven), Uíge (four), Malanje ( three), Bié, Cunene, Namibe (two each) and Lunda Norte (one), aged between 1 month and 101 years, 203 males and 152 females.

As for the deaths, of which three were men and two women, aged 41 to 73, three were reported in Luanda and two in Bié, while recoveries occurred in people between 1 and 98 years old, 431 in Luanda, 38 in Huambo , 20 in Bié, nine in Namibe, two in Cuando Cubango and an equal number in Moxico.

The country reached a cumulative 60,803 positive cases, 1603 deaths, 49,250 recovered from the disease and 9,950 active, of which 28 are in critical condition, 34 severe, 151 moderate, 69 mild and 9668 asymptomatic.

282 patients are hospitalized, 115 people are in institutional quarantine and 5171 contacts are under epidemiological surveillance.

In the last 24 hours, the laboratories processed 4,007 samples by RT-PCR, with a daily positivity rate of 8.8 percent, making the cumulative 1,039,725 samples processed to date, with a positivity rate of 5.8 percent.

Covid-19 has caused at least 4,822,267 deaths worldwide, among more than 236.23 million infections by the new coronavirus registered since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the most recent report by the Agence France-Presse.

The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
