João Lourenço dismisses and appoints new Minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment

This Thursday, the President of the Republic dismissed the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment, Jomo Fortunato, who will be replaced by academician Filipe Zau.

The decree signed by João Lourenço and released by his Civil House states that Jomo Fortunato, who had been appointed to the post in November 2020, was dismissed for service convenience.

Jomo Fortunato, cultural journalist and university professor, succeeded biologist Adjany Costa, the first minister to take charge of the three portfolios, who was appointed on April 6, 2020, remaining only seven months in the position.

In another decree, the President of the Republic determined that Filipe Silva de Pina Zau should cease his duties as a member of the Council of the Republic, the body to which he was appointed on 8 September, to assume the new functions as minister.

Filipe Zau was born in Lisbon, on November 2, 1950, and is a researcher in educational sciences, teacher, author and composer.

Also by decree dated this Thursday, President João Lourenço appointed Filipe Silva de Pina Zau as minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment.
