The guidance was released by the Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, at a press conference on updating the situation of public calamity, within the scope of the rules for containing and combating the covid-19 pandemic, which will remain in force until on the 7th of November.
With regard to pre-school education, which should resume on the 26th of this month, it is determined that the attendance of students is optional, without prejudice to the start on the scheduled date.
"It means that it is up to parents and guardians to decide whether or not these children should attend the educational establishment," said Adão de Almeida, stressing that the use of masks in schools in this segment is not mandatory.
Also according to Adão de Almeida, the rules impose the mandatory physical distance of 1.5 meters between students and students and teachers, the mandatory use of the face mask in schools and the exemption of classroom teaching activity, either by teachers or students that are vulnerable.
The new rules admit that the local health authorities can determine the temporary closure of some educational establishments, public or private, if the rules are not being observed in the defined terms.
With regard to foreign educational establishments in Angolan territory, a set of rules were established for their operation, which are the same for national schools.
"There is a set of rules that are now determined also applied to them, firstly, pre-school education will be allowed from October 26th and the faculty given to parents or guardians to order or not," he said.
For these establishments, physical distance rules are mandatory and the use of school cafeterias is prohibited until 31 December, and individual snacks must be made in classrooms.
