Diamond Exchange may open until the end of next year

The first Diamond Exchange may open, albeit on an experimental basis, until the end of next year. Diamantino Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources and Petroleum, challenged companies in the diamond sector to create conditions to move forward with the operation of the exchange.

:

The government called on the sector to try to create the necessary conditions to move forward with the creation of the stock exchange by the end of 2021, even if it is initially started in temporary facilities.

Quoted by Angop, the holder of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources portfolio, who spoke during a meeting with Sodiam managers, Endiama and consultant Peter Meeus, admitted that it will not be easy to realize the request. However, he revealed that the work for the installation of the grant "goes smoothly".

Peter Meeus, a consultant hired to help the country create the necessary conditions to install the scholarship, left a promise that he would do everything in his power to get the Angolan Diamond Exchange up and running, even experimentally, on the proposed date.

For the installation of the first diamond exchange, the country has as an example the Dubai exchange. According to Angop, Angola decided to hire Peter Meeus because he was already honorary president and Managing Director of the Dubai Stock Exchange, thus making it easier to follow the model of that country.

Remember that in July of this year, the country announced the creation of the scholarship, which will allow to increase the production and cutting of diamonds and reduce garimpo.
