Country exceeds total of 7000 infections and registers a death by covid-19

The country registered 250 new cases of covid-19, surpassing the 7000 cases of infection by the new coronavirus, one death and 127 patients recovered, in the last 24 hours, informed the Secretary of State for Public Health.

Franco Mufinda said this Thursday that the cases reported are divided by the provinces of Benguela (17), Kwanza Sul (3), Namibe (2), Cabinda (12), Cunene (11), Huila (39), Zaire (12), Cuando Cubango (1), Kwanza Sul (1) and Luanda (152).

The ages of the cases reported in the last 24 hours, being 144 men and 106 women, vary between 8 months and 76 years.

The case that resulted in death occurred in the province of Uíje, an Angolan citizen, aged 48.

With the table presented, Angola now totals 7096 cases, 228 deaths, 2928 recovered and 3940 active, of which 14 critical, 17 severe, 98 moderate, 411 mild and 3400 asymptomatic.

In the treatment centers, 543 patients are being followed up, and the laboratories have processed 2981 samples, of which 250 were positive, making the cumulative to date 126,332 samples processed, of which 7096 were positive.

The Secretary of State for Public Health reminded that the testing process is decentralized, pointing out that besides the public sector, people can go to private.

"Let's remember that when it comes to requests for travel abroad it is mandatory to perform the RT-PCR test, that the following laboratories besides the public sector have been authorized: Girassol clinics, Sagrada Esperança, Multiperfil and Luanda Medical Center," he said.

For domestic flights, the ruler appealed to nationals and foreigners to make a timely appointment for their test, to help prevent many people in line, facilitating the management of the process.

For these cases, private laboratories are available to perform this service, namely the Girassol, Sagrada Esperança, Multiperfil, Luanda Medical Center, Mediag, Centralab, Cligest and Cidil clinics.

With regard to the circulation in the interior of the country, the authorities advise to perform the serological test.

Franco Mufinda also informed that from Monday on, the tests for individual travel and for those who, of their own free will, want to know about their condition, will be reimbursed, that is, paid.

"And that we are referring to the public sector. Those who want to know about their status, because of travel will also be reimbursed and the legal piece will be disclosed Monday, as to the price," he said.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than one million ninety-three thousand deaths and more than 38.5 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.

After Europe succeeded China as the center of the pandemic in February, the American continent now has the most confirmed cases and the most deaths.
