Covid-19: country registers another 122 infections, one death and one recovery in 24 hours

The country has counted in the last 24 hours 122 new cases of covid-19 and one more death, raising the cases to 6488 and 219 dead, announced this Monday the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

Among the new cases, 99 were registered in Luanda, 11 in Zaire, two in Kwanza Norte, one in Malanje and nine in Cabinda.

The ages vary between 1 and 70 years, being 80 male and 42 female.

Since Sunday, a 51-year-old Angolan has died and one person has recovered from the disease.

Angola currently has 6488 positive cases, 219 deaths, 2744 recovered and 3525 active, of which 15 are in critical condition and 21 are seriously ill.

A total of 2,2405 samples have been processed out of a total of 118,156 harvests to date.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than one million seventy-seven thousand deaths and more than 37.5 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December in Wuhan, a city in central China.

In Africa, there are 38,397 confirmed deaths in more than 1.5 million people infected in 55 countries, according to the most recent statistics about the pandemic in that continent.

Angola, the African Portuguese-speaking country with the most deaths due to covid-19, has 219 deaths and 6488 cases, followed by Equatorial Guinea (83 deaths and 5063 cases), Cape Verde (75 deaths and 7155 cases), Mozambique (72 deaths and 10,088 cases), Guinea-Bissau (41 deaths and 2389 cases) and São Tomé e Príncipe (15 deaths and 928 cases).
