Ministry of Health cancels random testing of students without explaining reasons

The mass testing of school students, scheduled for this Tuesday, was canceled shortly after it was announced by the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

During the daily epidemiological review on covid-19, the person in charge of the Health area announced that from Tuesday the random testing of students would be initiated, through serological tests, covering a thousand students from ten schools.

About two hours later, the Ministry of Health's Institutional Communication and Press office (MINSA) reported that the testing was canceled, without further explanation.

"The new date will be announced in due course," according to the MINSA statement.

Angola has a total of 5530 cases of infection, of which 2591 have been recovered, 2740 are active, including 16 citrus and 14 serious and 199 deaths.

This Monday, the face-to-face classes in Angola were resumed, covering only the exam classes (6th, 9th, 12th and 13th classes) so far.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than one million and thirty thousand deaths worldwide since December last year.
