Sonangol builds scientific research and innovation center in Cuanza Sul

State-owned oil company Sonangol announced that it will build a research and innovation center to help identify strategic projects for the company.

:

The construction should start in 2021 and be completed in 2022, being implemented in the vicinity of the National Petroleum Institute and the Higher Petroleum Institute, in the city of Sumbe (province of Cuanza-Sul).

The Research Center (CIITIP) "will be an advisory, advisory and permanent body, to monitor, evaluate and decide on research and innovation activities, as well as assess existing conditions and the resources available, in order to guarantee excellence in terms of productivity and learning ".

The performance of the center will be aligned with the "enhancement of the value chain of Sonangol and the sector, especially the need for exploration, development, production, refining and petrochemicals, renewable energies and sustainable development".

The space will house several other institutions of higher education, professional training and business incubators, as part of a Scientific and Technological Research Pole to be created at the initiative of the Ministry of Petroleum with the collaboration of the National Oil and Gas Agency, and multinational operators, such as the Norwegian Equinor.
