Generals Leopoldino do Nascimento "Dino" and Hélder Vieiras Dias Júnior "Kopelipa", strong men of the regime of former President José Eduardo dos Santos, were made defendants in the context of a process related to contracts between the State and the company China International Found ( CIF), within the scope of the extinct National Reconstruction Office.
The judicial source did not elaborate on the accusations that fall on the two former collaborators of José Eduardo dos Santos, as "they have yet to be heard".
According to Jornal de Angola, the generals will be heard as defendants in order to apply their respective coercion measures but they cannot be preventively arrested before the order of pronouncement, in the contradictory instruction phase, as they "enjoy immunities".
"General officers of the Angolan Armed Forces and commissioners of the National Police cannot be arrested without formally charged guilt, except in flagrante delicto, for a felony punishable by a prison sentence of more than two years," the newspaper reported over the weekend.
In February of this year, the National Asset Recovery Service, of the Attorney General's Office (PGR), seized the buildings CIF Luanda One and CIF Two, held by the Angolan company China International Fund Angola, without giving reasons.
