According to a statement from the Viana municipal administration, which VerAngola had access to, on Saturday, the head of the Education department handed over the JIREH 5125 Primary School, which is located in the urban district of Kikuxi, within the aforementioned reception center.
"The school has 10 more classrooms than the four that already existed, making a total of 14 classrooms and will benefit more than 1470 students, both internal at the Luther Rescova Center and external, significantly expanding access to education", the statement reads.
According to the note, the infrastructure "was already under construction by the Viana administration", having been equipped by the Jirétour's Group.
On the occasion, Luísa Grilo highlighted the importance of the partnership between the local administration and the private sector, adding: "The handover of this school in Viana shows how much these collaborations can benefit our community."
She also considered that "quality education is essential for the development" of the country.
"Quality education is essential for the development of Angola. Teachers, despite the difficulties, do not give up teaching, and students must take advantage of this opportunity to learn and contribute to the future of our country", said the minister, quoted in the statement.
Paulo Maka Simão Zady, deputy municipal administrator for the Political and Social Area of Communities – who was also present at the event – expressed gratitude for the company's action, having highlighted the government's efforts to improve education in the country, especially in Viana.
Meanwhile, Eufrásia Benjamin, director of the school complex, quoted by Angop, informed that registrations and enrolments begin this Monday, having appealed to citizens to go to the school to enroll.
In turn, Domingos Campos, the company's manager, said that this school will allow around 170 children to have a 'roof' to study, instead of doing so under trees and added that they will try to join forces with the local administration and other partners to build a canteen and a sports court in that school complex.
According to Angop, the school complex cost more than 195 million kwanzas, and will have classes from the first to the ninth grades and the approximately 1470 students will be divided into three shifts, namely morning, afternoon and evening.
