According to the provincial governor, the objective of the program is to increase the capacity to accommodate children in the normal education system, by adding more classrooms.
On the occasion, Manuel Homem, quoted by Angop, said that the province of Luanda needs more than 600 schools with different levels of education, in order to meet the number of children who are outside the educational system.
The governor also informed that the provincial government will continue to stimulate and revitalize existing programs in the field of education, such as the expansion of 'Todos Unidos para a Primeira Infância (TUPI)', the implementation of assisted monoteaching, of the 'Luanda Afforestation Program', comprising the involvement of students in the various Olympics and academic awards, as well as the implementation of the 'Culture in Schools' initiative (aims to teach students through art and culture), writes Angop.
Later this year, he said, the government also intends to move forward with the implementation of the 'My Menstrual Absolvente' program in schools, which aims to help children with difficulties in purchasing this type of product.
According to a statement from the government of the province of Luanda, to which VerAngola had access, the provincial opening act of the 2024/2025 academic year took place, this Monday, in Cazenga, under the motto "Valuing the Voices of Teachers Towards a Contract Social for Education".
The ceremony was presided over by the provincial governor, Manuel Homem, and included "welcome notes from the municipal administrator of Cazenga, Nádia Evelise Martins de Sousa Neto".
According to the statement, for the current academic year "227,774 students were admitted to different levels of education, of which more than 110 thousand are entering for the first time, making a total of more than two million students, who will be covered by more than 28 thousand teachers".
