According to data sent to Lusa by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, in the first eight months of the year, Angola bought around 244 million dollars (220 million euros) in agricultural products from Brazil, 46 percent of which were meat and 42 percent were sugarcane products.
This is a considerably higher figure than last year, when Angola bought around 157 million dollars (142 million euros) in Brazilian agricultural products in the first eight months of 2023.
"In contrast, Brazil did not import any Angolan agribusiness products in 2024," Brazilian authorities told Lusa.
In eight months, Brazilian agricultural products exceeded the total value of what was purchased by Angola in the whole of 2023.
In 2023, Brazil exported more than 237 million dollars (214 million euros) to Angola, "with meat representing 64 percent of this total" and with products derived from sugar cane accounting for 17 percent of Brazilian agricultural exports to the country, detailed the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
