"We want to reach Angolans. Portugal is the third country in the world with the largest Angolan community. According to official data from the Angolan authorities, more than 410,000 Angolans live in Portugal, so we want to bring our television to this population. In addition, we also want to promote our television to Portuguese speakers", explained the Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of TV Zimbo, Paulo Julião, quoted in a statement sent to VerAngola.
Thus, TV Zimbo in Portugal will broadcast 15 hours of "daily production of new content", seven hours of which will be news, newspapers and news programmes and the remaining eight hours will be entertainment.
"The channel will broadcast from Luanda, with the team of journalists and other collaborators who are part of TV Zimbo in Angola", reads the statement.
According to Paulo Julião, in the first phase, the programmes will be recorded in Angola, but the possibility of producing a programme from Portugal is being studied.
"In this first phase, the programmes will be recorded from Angola. However, we are considering the possibility of producing a programme from Lisbon, portraying the lives of Angolans living in Portugal", he added.
Regarding the audience, the CEO of TV Zimbo said that the aim is to reach the "largest number of Angolans and Portuguese speakers living in Portugal".
"We want to bring Angola and differentiated, rigorous, precise and responsible information to Angolans living in Portuguese territory", he added.
'A tarde é Nossa', 'Jornal Zimbo', 'Debate Livre', 'Sexto Sentido' and 'Nossa Terra' are some of the main programmes on the channel, which was "created and launched on the Angolan market on 14 December 2008, with an investment of approximately 20 million dollars, and was the first private television channel in Angola".
Among the channel's "big faces", for example, Dina Simão, Neurite Mendes, Amílcar Xavier, Igor Benza and Zuleica Wilson stand out.
