In the competition, the 'tricolores' are part of group A, also composed of the winner of the Basketball Champions League of Europe (BCL), Unicaja from Spain, and the winner of the BCL Asia, Al Riyadi from Lebanon.
According to Petro de Luanda, their first game in the competition – which will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium – is scheduled for this Thursday, at 12:00pm (Angola time), against Unicaja.
The 'tricolores' will return to the scene next Saturday, at 08:00am (Angola time) to face Al Riyadi.
The competition also has a second group (group B), also composed of three teams, namely Quimsa from Argentina (winner of the BCL Americas), NBA G League United and Tasmania JackJumpers (champion of the National Basketball League of Australia).
After the three teams from each group play each other, the best team from group A and the best team from group B will go through to the final, which will be played on 15 September.
Before starting the competition, Petro de Luanda held a pre-competition training camp in Spain. According to a note from Petro, the team left Spain last Sunday, heading to Singapore.
During the training camp, the team led by Sergio Valdeomillos played five friendly matches.
"With four reinforcements in the squad, three Americans and one from the Ivory Coast, hired specifically for the 'Singapore operation', coach Sergio Valdeomillos took advantage of the friendly matches to get to know the individual technical qualities of the new players in detail and to integrate them into the team", says Petro.
It is worth remembering that the 'tricolores' beat Al Ahly Ly from Libya by 107-94 in the BAL final, becoming champions.
Please note that the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2024 games will be broadcast on the competition's official website.
